I am excited to be a guest co-host for the Inspiration Avenue Challenge theme this week with Shelly from Pics by Shel . As you may have guessed, the theme is TAGS & BOOKMARKS! Anyone who has browsed my Etsy Shop knows that book tags are just one of my favorite things to make. You may have seen some of these book tags in the September/October 2012 Edition of Somerset Studio Magazine.
THERE IS ALWAYS HOPE
Book tags/ bookmarks are incredibly fun and easy to make, not to mention they are perfect for a variety of uses. They make great gift tags! While searching for samples of book tags online and on Etsy, I was so impressed and amazed by the creative way that tags were being used. I also found many new techniques that I am dying to try my hand at making new tags in 2013.
This one is for YOU, Diane!
YOU ARE A STAR IN THE EYES OF SOMEONE
BE BRAVE . . . YOU ARE MORE THAN YOU REALIZE
YOU ARE UNIQUE AND ONE OF A KIND
SING YOUR OWN SONG
TAG! YOU ARE UP!
If you have never tried your hand at making tags or bookmarks, I hope this theme by SHEL at Inspiration Avenue has inspired you to try your hand at a tag or two! Many of the blogs from these artists have tutorials on the techniques that they used to make them. Tags and bookmarks are a great way to experiment and to make a little tag of your art to share with someone or add tag art to your Inspiration Board.
HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR IN 2013

Frida Kahlo Fabric @ The Crafty Tree on Etsy
I was searching for some fabric to recover two chair cushions in my sun room and found this great Frida Kahlo
fabric. During my search for fabric, I came across MYBONNY and fell in love with her fabric collage work. You can learn more about her and see her beautiful creative work on Etsy and here: www.mybonny.com
There were two pieces of her work when I saw them, I knew I had to get them. This was one of them.
NYC ~ THE CITY OF WONDER ~ 9/11
It was made in Remembrance of NYC and 9/11. It is even more beautiful in person.
This was the other one that beckoned me to purchase:
This is how I hung it. I made the Beach Sign and strung wire across it, added beach stones and beads, and then hung it with vintage clothes pins!
Bonny began making Troll clothes in the 60's and now has a line of green inspired altered wearable art clothing called Random Scraps of Fabric. She lives in beautiful Cannon Beach, Oregon and works from her home studio and gallery in Cannon Beach.
Bonny's work inspired me so much these two snowed in days after Christmas, that I actually finished my Inspiration Board! Thanks Bonny for your inspiring creative works!
