AAH MOMENTS

Webster Dictionary defines AAH as expressions of surprise and joy. I know we have all had "AAH MOMENTS" and probably can recall each of them fondly. This weekend I had an "AAH MOMENT" as I was taking some much needed "ME" time and browsing through all the awesome blogs that I have not yet had the time to properly delve into and enjoy. I make a point to read all the blogs and view all the art works of "Friends" that follow me and then I also have huge list of blogs that are on my "coffee and me time" that I can't wait to look at and have only yet scanned most of them. Saturday morning I went to Hillcrest Cottage, my new blogging friend and I was enjoying her post about supporting etsy artists. She even had a handmade button there to click on that featured an item from one of the etsy shops.
I clicked on the button and there was my "AAH" MOMENT. I was truly surprised to see my item there and joyful that she chose to feature one of my Art Domino Desk Sets! It was so much fun and I appreciated it so much that she now has inspired me to feature AAH MOMENTS on my blog. From here on out every Monday for SURE and maybe even more often when ever the moment strikes me and I just can't wait until Monday, I will feature on my blog a handmade creation from an Artist that follows my blog. Be sure to check out Hillcrest Cottage on etsy and her blog...you will find her under my list of inspiration and good reads.

You also should check out this amazing artist and fellow blogger...CUTE N COOL BLOG STUFF by ITKupilli also listed under my angels. She is a finnish artist and designer and has some great things to offer many of them are free..such as the picture here and the Angel picture..thanks ITKupilli!

Visit anytime, I love comments and be sure and check back on Mondays to see more

IS IT FRIDAY....REALLY?

...Because it sure felt like a Monday this morning. I am usually all about Fridays and who isn't? After all, Friday brings the knowledge that the next two days are free. You are off work - even though you are not really..you know what I mean. It depends on what hat you wear. I won't go there, we all have hats to wear and crosses to bear, but none the less, Friday's give bring us some choices to make.

I got up late this morning, again. I am having trouble these days getting it all together. My fear? I have become a "slacker" for lack of a better word. I usually have that problem on Monday's, but NEVER on a Friday. This morning I even resorted to "whining" with that poor me record playing in my head. It took me two hours to get over my bad start this morning. I went over it in my head to think about the things I need to change, because really who wants to be a slacker and a whiner?. I decided to just "chuck it aside" and say "What the Hell". Someone much wiser that me said, quote:
"Have you ever noticed that "What the Hell" is always the right decision"?
It is pretty much saying to me, bring it on, I can take it. It's throwing away any reservations and fears that you have in your life and going for it..full steam ahead.
After all, One Life..One Journey..One Day..One Minute...we own none of it. Each day is a gift. So Why do I want to waste it?

I heard a bird singing outside my window..things are looking up.
Now it is beginning to look like FRIDAY!

Happy Fridays Everyday!

CRAZY is GOOD!

Do you sometimes feel a little crazy? Jack Kerouac said it well and I love his quote:

Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The Rebels. The trouble-makers. The round heads in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules, and they have not respect for the status-quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify them, or vilify them. But the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do".

There are days I feel totally crazy and maybe not in a good way,(we all have THOSE days), but I have really come to believe that you have to live your life with your heart wide open and let life happen. After all, we only get this journey once.

I am coveting my daughter's Alphabet Art Print pictured above.."IT'S A CRAZY GOOD LIFE", that pretty much sums it up for me. She does Alphabet Art Photography with a "Twist".
Check out her ETSY Shop. She also has some great giveaways going on each week on her blog. One includes a Vintage Skeleton Key Necklace from my shop and lots of other great stuff!

WHY WE BLOG.....

This past weekend I spent quite a bit of time looking at the blog yellow pages. There are blogs out there for just about everything. I have to admit that although not all of them knocked my socks off, the larger majority of the handmade and artsy sites drew me in and I wanted more! I "diddled" away the afternoon just reading one blog after another. I am not a "diddler" either. I must fill my time with something. Time is way to valuable to waste. However, I have what I think must be "blog block". I have heard from several people, "when are you going to do your blog"? I LOVED reading the blogs, but somehow the idea of "ME" blogging was starting to feel like a commitment.. and I wasn't sure I wanted to add to my already "C" stack and urgent file (and you know where that file is).

I am pretty much an all or nothing person. It is pretty hard for me to let things "simmer" until I get back to it. My husband who puts up with my craziness has it figured out. He said that women have to say at least 500 thousand words a day more than men. It's scientific, he read it somewhere. His theory is that you can't do that in your Etsy shop, so we blog to get all those words out that we didn't get to say at the end of the day! I am guessing he wants me to say all those words that he is not all that interested in to someone else! Normally, that would make me mad, but maybe he has a very small point here. There are things that I would like to say and share that probably does not interest my husband that much, or my co-workers, some of my family,my non-artsy friends, the librarian, the checker at krogers..well you get it. So maybe blogging will be a good thing for me and in fact I have something I want to share with you today!

My friends have said, "your house must be awesome with all your art stuff". Actually, no. There is no art stuff in my house that is MINE. Everything I make, I sell or give away. I rarely make something of mine for me. All the joy comes in making it and giving it away or knowing someone else loved it as much as me to actually buy it! I don't have alot of other people's art in my house either because if I buy it, it is generally for someone else. I REALLY LOVE & APPRECIATE the things that I can't and don't do.

Take these plates for instance. These are artsy,colorful,awesome...and GONE! You better hurry if you see something you like. I just went to get the website and the Alice in Wonderland Plates are already gone.

I LOVE, LOVE art plates - that you can use. If I am going to eat, I want to be inspired by my food and my plate!

BRAIN SPACE

I am in desperate need of it....
I decided to blog so I can work at my day job. I wasn't sure at first why people blogged.
It takes time to blog and I am very coveting of my time. Then it came to me, if I blog,
I can store all the things that clutter my altered mind and focus on the day job that actually
supports me. And when the day is done, mine begins...I get to do what I love.

I love art
I love creating
I love altered art
I love Girl stuff and I think I am going to love
blogging.....

There is some truth in the phrase "starving artist". When I was younger, I wondered why the artist who didn't make a dime, did it. After all, my art was going to make me rich and famous.
Now in my somewhat wiser years, the answer is very clear... there is no greater satisfaction
than doing what you love...pay or no pay.

Bottom line... blogging is new to me, I will share all, I will try not to offend you, if you don't like what I do...just don't look, I will still be here....I am a work in progress
